Speaker: Andy Poprawa Independent Advisor, Consultant, Corporate Board Member, SQL Power Group

Regulators today are increasingly focussed on ensuring that supervised entities are identifying, measuring and mitigating principal risks while allowing institutions to remain competitive. To ensure that these entities are doing so, different types of data is being collected from entities including a wide array of areas of credit, market, operational and capital risks. This data is then used for early warning analytics allowing regulatory bodies to take appropriate regulatory actions in the event of unacceptable risk levels. Furthermore, this data can be mined to identify new risk areas and new potential causes for institution failures.

9:30AM - 10:30AM Streamlining Workflows to ease the Regulatory Burden and Make More Efficient Use of Scarce Resources

TBD

Learn how Market Regulators were able to streamline and simplify their Registration and Regulatory functions through automation — yielding more simplified processes for their registrants and a great deal of internal efficiencies for their human resources.

Regulators today face resistance from filers and political pressure to reduce the burden of regulation. At the same time, regulators know that the risks are growing, and increasing amounts of data must be collected to ensure effective regulation. Market Regulators are faced with this dilemma and are forced to look for a new system. The goal is achievable through the SQL Power Suite which allows regulators to increase the quality of data coming into their systems while simultaneously making it easier for the regulated entities to file that data through efficiencies in the workflow of filing.

10:30AM - 11:00AM Break

Morning Coffee and snack will be served.

11:00AM - 12:00PM Technology Efficiencies to Maximize ROI of Capital and Productivity of Human Resources

Speaker: Andrew Ford Vice President of Sales, SQL Power Group

Regulators today are challenged with juggling 3 key resources: Budget, Labour, and Technology. The investment in Labour garners the greatest return when that Labour is doing the high value work of analysis, examination, and management. Budgets get stretched when that Labour is forced to do low value manual data collection, collation, and insertion into tools to get ready to do high value work. However, frequently, regulators live with legacy technology built as point solutions for narrowly focused areas, thus forcing Labour to take a lot of extra manual steps before they can do high value work? resulting in is inefficient use of the Labour investment. These efficiency gains position the regulator to continually increase their regulatory effectiveness through the fast implementation of new supervisory requirements.

12:00PM - 2:00PM Break

Fortunately, technology has come a long way in the past 15 years enabling financial regulators to easily collect and mine clean and pre-validated data; delivering proactive real-time analytics with little to no manual intervention.
